Embracing AI Without Fear: A Faith-Based Perspective on Wisdom in a Technological Age

We’re living in a remarkable moment in history—one defined by rapid technological advancement, especially in artificial intelligence. For many, this shift brings uncertainty or even fear. But for me, it brings excitement. I’m not afraid of AI. I see it as part of a larger unfolding story—one that invites us to think deeply about wisdom, knowledge, and our place in the world.

My comfort with AI doesn’t come from blind optimism. It’s rooted in my faith. I believe that true wisdom and knowledge come from above, and that divine insight helps us navigate the complexities of earthly understanding. As we engage with new technologies, I seek to remain grounded in spiritual wisdom—using it as a compass to guide my choices and shape my vision for the future, including my hope of building a home in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Two Kinds of Wisdom

I believe there are two kinds of wisdom and knowledge at work in the world—and they’ve been present since the beginning of time:

  • Earthly wisdom and knowledge: This includes human discoveries, scientific breakthroughs, and the logic that drives innovation. It’s powerful, but limited by our perspective and experience.

  • Heavenly wisdom and knowledge: This comes from God. It offers eternal perspective, spiritual clarity, and moral grounding. It helps us discern not just what we can do, but what we should do.

James 3:15 Context

12Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. 13Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

I see the knowledge of AI and any kind of knowledge like learning math, science, even to read as coming from the kind of knowledge defined above in this scripture as being the kind of wisdom that DOES NOT come down from above, but is earthly, it is sensual, even devilish, this scripture tells us. And the reason for this is that the wisdom that is earthly can be subject to being filled with envying and strife, therefore there comes confusion and every other evil work. This will be the downfall of any AI creation or implementation within our society, the fact that it is not wisdom coming down from above, but that it is earthly and is subject to actually "any kind of sin can be worked through it."

The Wisdom That Comes From Above

By contrast, when we possess wisdom from above, we become like a wise person—endued with knowledge and marked by humility. This wisdom reveals itself not through loud declarations, but through our good conduct and gentle, peace-filled conversations.

Why is this? Because the wisdom that comes from above is first pure. Then it is peaceable, gentle, and free from confusion. It does not show favoritism, as AI systems often do, nor is it hypocritical—it is genuine in every way.

This kind of wisdom empowers us to be peacemakers, even when the enemy roars like a lion, sowing discord and confusion through AI or other technologies born of earthly wisdom. Earthly inventions, while capable of great good, are also vulnerable to misuse and can become vessels of chaos and harm.

But peace is a fruit of the Spirit of God—a fruit of righteousness. Those who bear it are not easily shaken. They are not afraid of anything the devil may invent, because they are rooted in a wisdom that transcends time, technology, and turmoil."
