Hard Sayings, Holy Truths: Why We Must Listen Anyway
There’s a reason people shy away from the “hard sayings” of God. Words about repentance, righteousness, and especially death tend to make us squirm. We’d rather hear about blessings than boundaries, comfort than correction. But when a message is sent by the Holy Ghost, it carries divine purpose—and to reject it is no small matter.
Some say, “People don’t want to hear about death.” But death is not the enemy of the believer—it’s the doorway to eternity. If God speaks of it, it’s not to frighten us, but to prepare us. And when we resist those Spirit-led messages, we risk more than discomfort—we risk blaspheming the very words of God.
If your heart is fixed on the here and now—on the pleasures of the flesh—then no prophet or prophetess will ever say what you want to hear. But that’s not because they’re harsh. It’s because you’ve already chosen your god: the god of self. And that god will never lead you to the Kingdom of Heaven. It only leads downward.
Jesus warned us: on the day of judgment, many will say, “Lord, Lord,” and He will respond, “I never knew you.” Why? Because they refused to hear Him when He spoke through His messengers. They clung to a form of godliness but denied its power. They did good deeds, yes—but without surrender, without Spirit, without truth.
Let’s be clear: the Bible is sacred. But the Holy Ghost is the one who breathes life into those words. Without Him, Scripture becomes a closed book. With Him, it becomes a living guide. The Word and the Spirit are not rivals—they are partners. One cannot stand without the other.
So many today claim to be holy, yet walk in rebellion. Is it any wonder that hell continues to enlarge itself? The path is wide, and many are determined to walk it—even while wearing the garments of religion.
But there is still time.
Seek the Holy Ghost. Ask Him to reveal the mysteries of the Kingdom. Don’t rely solely on preachers or printed pages. Cherish the Bible, yes—but let the Spirit teach you how to live it. Let Him show you the narrow path that leads to life.
Because when the final separation comes—and it will come—it’s far better to be safe than sorry.
