When Hatred Blocks the Holy Spirit
I’ve been wrestling with a troubling contradiction: how can someone openly declare, “I hate President Trump,” and still claim to be a true child of God? How can they dismiss the importance of receiving the Holy Ghost while harboring such intense disdain for another human being?
This isn’t just about politics. It’s about the condition of the heart.
The person I’m referring to has repeatedly entangled me in spiritual battles—conflicts that feel rooted not in faith, but in bitterness. She’s admitted she can’t even bear to hear the President’s voice. That level of aversion goes beyond disagreement. It reflects a hardened spirit, one that struggles to embody the love Scripture calls us to.
Because Scripture doesn’t say, “Love only your family,” or “Love only those who agree with you.” It says, “Love your enemies.” That command isn’t optional—it’s foundational.
So when I say it’s no wonder she hasn’t received the Holy Ghost, I’m not judging. I’m observing a spiritual truth: a heart filled with hatred, envy, and strife is not a vessel fit to carry the Spirit of God. Her hostility toward the President—and the tension she brings into our relationship over my spiritual walk—points to something deeper. Something unresolved.
Whether she realizes it or not, she’s inviting God’s correction.
This isn’t about condemnation. It’s about transformation. If we want to walk in the Spirit, we must first examine our hearts. Are we truly loving as Christ commanded? Or are we letting personal grievances block the flow of grace?
